EXHIBITION: PAPER + CLAY

This exhibition explored an artistic exchange between two local Ipswich artists, Andrea Baumert Howard and Donalee Moriarty, who principally use the mediums of paper and clay respectively. Their visual language focuses on architectural design elements, with both connecting and divergent interpretation that creates unique and geometrically influenced sculptural works.

For the clay component of the exhibition, Moriarty uses clay slabs, coils and wheel thrown components, which are saggar-fired multiple times to achieve a depth of surface texture that creates an incongruence between the structured form and volatility of surface treatment.
