Still smiling every time I think about how Hive Resonance was a finalist in the National Emerging Art Prize!

Huge thanks to @nationalemergingartprize, and particularly to Hugh for his care and attention.

Within minutes, the decision is made. Standing in front of shelves filled with clays of all colours, descriptions and firing ranges, I reach for the familiar white earthenware paperclay. It resists cracking and joins slabs like nothing else I’v
Well, this is a thing...

After 276 posts, this is the first photo of me, the maker behind the pots.

I had to take this photo for a university assignment, and thought it might be time to show my face here.

The wheel hums and the clay speaks.

This work in progress is taking shape, but it was so nice to pause and appreciate.

Throwing cylinders on the wheel is a fundamental skill, but it’s still challenging and rewarding for me.

My marker’s mark……

This little fella was made one day in my studio from a piece of leftover clay and tools readily at hand. I’d like to tell you it has meaning, but realistically it just evolved out of a need.

What’s on the shelf?

Something red on a shelf of grey and brown.

This little fella was such fun to build – I never expected it to survive the firings.

Night sight......

In Ipswich's embrace, rain whispers secrets tonight.

The sun bowed out beneath a tyrant's heat, a fierce surrender.

Then, the trees, those silent sentinels, began their dance outside my pane.

And in the finale, a downpour's grac
Something new…………..

Those who have been following along for a while will know that this ‘almost’ moon jar is significant.

It’s round! I’m not at all accustomed to too many curved surfaces.

This is where ideas transform into tangible somethings.

Here’s a peek of my piece that’s part of the 2023 Block Show.

Come and see it and many others’ fabulous work.

Holidays are for experimenting……

I'm on holidays until mid-January.

So who knows where we'll end up by then?

Lucky lucky me.

This is a 40 cm experiment I’ve been playing with to build as many angled surfaces as possible into o

I’ve been working on this one for a while.

It started out as one slab built piece, then looked better as two separate pieces.

The proportions are a bit weird - 23 cm wide by 13 cm tall.

But I like the way the two pieces sit together.
